Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, Project Blue Sky
About the Project
Leighs Construction completed Stages 1 and 2 of this project - the Gibson Centre (library), a science facility, a general academic building (Mana Wāhine), and a state-of-the-art performing arts centre.
A $100 million project to create 21st century facilities for both students and staff.
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School Board of Governors
A fast-track, open book delivery process was used to deliver the facilities within a programme that optimised the school’s calendar, whilst minimising any disruption to the day-to-day running of the school.
Environmental sustainability was one of the leading philosophies behind this development. Sustainable materials and methods were incorporated throughout the buildings, with a key feature being the science building’s thermal warm roof and exposed concrete used on the floors and walls creates added thermal mass, ensuring heating costs are kept to a minimum.
