About the Project
Located within a residential area of Dili, the embassy comprises formal offices and facilities, along with an official residence, swimming pool, ancillary buildings and infrastructure.
The design and construction of the New Zealand Embassy in Timor-Leste’s (East Timor) capital Dili, was a prestigious project awarded to Leighs Construction by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January 2008.

Dili, East Timor
Lack of infrastructure, an after effect of the decades of independence struggle against Indonesia, meant the majority of the quality materials had to be sourced from the South Pacific region and shipped to Timor-Leste.
Filipino and East Timorese tradesmen were employed and at the peak of the project 50 local staff were employed on site.
