Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre

About the Project

The architectural vision for the visitor centre was to connect people and plants, educating them about the beauty, variety and complexity of the plant world.

The Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre, Te Māra Huaota o Waipapa, is a much-loved, multi-use facility situated within one of Christchurch’s most popular attractions.

The steel and glass structure combines to form the façade, which then links to and connects with, interior and exterior elements. Visitors not only get to enjoy the expansive views of the gardens, they also get to experience the intricacies and inner workings of the day-to-day operations within the centre.
