Anthony Leighs
Managing Director
As the founder and Managing Director, Anthony Leighs has been at the forefront of the business since 1995, growing Leighs to its current and ongoing success.

Throughout this time, Anthony’s abilities and achievements have been acknowledged by the industry, earning him the NZIOB Young Achiever Award, NZIOB Supreme Award and Innovation Award early in his career. He was also awarded a commendation at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards and he proudly received the Special Commendation Award at the Champion Canterbury Awards for his contribution to Canterbury. Anthony is the former chairman of the New Zealand Registered Master Builders’ Association and a former deputy chairman of the Building Research Advisory Council.

Mark Darrow
Chairman
Mark Darrow is an experienced businessman and professional director, specialising in corporate governance. 

He chairs Armstrong Motor Group, Signum Holdings, Primary ITO and The Lines Company and is a Director for Trustees & Executors and Balle Brothers Group.

Mark is a previous board member of the New Zealand Transport Agency, the Counties-Manukau District Health Board and chaired the Finance & Audit Committee for both organisations. He is a 25 year member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a Justice of the Peace of New Zealand.

Brian Nightingale
Non-executive director
Brian Nightingale is director of Building and Construction Services Limited and a past member of the Building Practitioners Board.

He is involved with Registered Master Builders, the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the New Zealand Institute of Builders. Brian has more than 35 years’ experience in the construction industry, mainly in commercial construction. He has been involved in numerous high profile projects, including the redevelopment of Eden Park for the Rugby World Cup, the refurbishments of the Beehive and The Old Government Buildings, earthquake strengthening of the Rankin Browne and Hunter buildings at Victoria University and the Bond Store on Wellington’s Queens Wharf.

Paul Duffy
Non-executive director
Paul was appointed as a non-executive director in July 2015.

Paul has over 35 years’ experience in the property industry, including CEO/Managing Director of DNZ Property Fund for 13 years. During his career, Paul held positions as GM of Fletcher Property and was Joint Managing Director of the US Real Estate Subsidiaries for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.  In this role, he oversaw the formation of a large real estate investment portfolio in the US and Europe. Paul is currently a Director of a number of private companies.

Paul is Chairman of Augusta Capital and Augusta Funds Management.

David Jarman
Group Chief Financial Officer
David is Group Chief Financial Officer, with expertise in construction, finance, manufacturing, telecommunications and retail.

A qualified accountant, he has worked in the United Kingdom, the United States, Asia, and New Zealand where he is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. With his background in developing businesses, David’s experience has been invaluable in contributing to Leighs' financial management, as the company expands and takes on new projects.

Dave Hunter
General Manager Construction
Dave Hunter is well known and respected in the construction industry for his technical innovation, methodology development and problem solving on complex projects. 

A true industry veteran, Dave managed construction of the Sky Tower, which at the time was the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere and remains one of the most complex projects in New Zealand history. Dave’s expertise has seen him work successfully with clients, bringing sound knowledge of the industry to his decision-making and processes.  

Mike Knowles
Regional Manager - South Island
Mike has worked in the construction industry in Christchurch for the past 25 years and with Leighs for over 10.

As Regional Manager of our South Island operations, he brings vast experience, industry knowledge and an in-depth understanding of Leighs’ culture, operations and a vision for our success. 

Widely respected and with a track-record of successful negotiations and projects throughout the South Island, Mike has built many lasting relationships and places high value on client satisfaction.
