Leighs appoints NZIOB Supreme Award winner Jeff Vivian to lead our Auckland operation24 February 2015

Leighs has announced our expansion into the Auckland market with the appointment of NZIOB Supreme Award Winner Jeff Vivian as Auckland Operations Manager.

“Leighs celebrates 20 years this year, establishing us as one of New Zealand’s leading commercial construction companies. With our reputation for great projects and people, we’re now set to play a major role in the Auckland market.  Mr Vivian will play a key role in establishing and managing the company’s Auckland branch,” says managing director Anthony Leighs.

Anthony says Jeff's 15 years’ experience in Auckland and outgoing attitude fit well with Leighs and the role of Auckland Operations Manager.

“Jeff is results-oriented, has strong strategic and commercial acumen and has the ability to implement sophisticated plans and projects – we’re excited to have him on board,” says Anthony.

Jeff has worked at all levels of the construction industry, with a strong background in project delivery.  In 2014, he was the NZIOB’s supreme award winner for his project management of Te Uru Taumatua, TÅ«hoe, which was the first project in New Zealand to adhere to the stringent Living Building challenge system.

Jeff is delighted to be joining Leighs at a time of unprecedented demand for construction in the Auckland region.

“This is a fantastic career move for me at a time when the Auckland construction industry needs companies like Leighs to deliver high-quality projects. I’m excited to be on board and look forward to helping Leighs build a strong presence in the Auckland market, and to deliver high quality, profitable projects for the company and its clients,” says Jeff.

Leighs’ expansion into the Auckland region is a key pillar of our strategic plan, beginning with the appointment of Paul O’Brien as commercial manager.  With more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 10 in Auckland, Paul is a qualified and registered quantity surveyor, with an honours degree in law and a graduate diploma in law. Paul is chair of the Auckland Branch of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors and sits on a number of industry organisations.

Paul is also excited at the prospects in front of Leighs.

“I’m thrilled to have joined the Leighs team during such dynamic times and to be playing an integral role in the company’s growth and success. Leighs has a fantastic reputation and a wealth of high calibre professionals eager to be the best in the industry,” says Paul.

Paul has been working for Leighs since November 2014, and Mr Vivian will commence his role on 16 March 2015.
